Theme And It’s Role In Fiction And Non-fiction

Let’s consider theme as one of the major points in fiction and non-fiction. Indeed theme plays a little bit different roles in non-fiction and fiction. Moreover it is developed quite differently.

You need to understand that theme is why fiction matters. In addition it is the quality that gives the story a universal appeal. Even though it may appear that theme is what the story is about, still the reader shouldn’t get it confused with the idea or the plot. The reason is that these are two different things.

One more important thing is that theme enriches and inspires the reader, keeping him/her interested. For sure, theme is very important for every fiction and non-fiction book, it is the abstract concept behind the story forming. I want to admit that theme is the center of the story surrounded by the exposition, dialogue, and actions which make the story’s body.

And even more theme is something completely different from the characters or the plot or the original idea that have given the start to the story. In fact, it can occur that the author have started his story from some minor idea and then is leading us to the main theme of his/her book. I want to mention one more outstanding detail sometimes theme is implied into a story without the writer’s knowing of it at the start. But most experienced authors usually create the theme first and then work really hard developing it.

When taking non-fiction into consideration authors usually hone in to their theme and begin referring to it right at the first paragraph. And this can be clearly seen in such books George Bush’s Decision Points and Earth book. On opposite when analyzing fiction stories we would see that the theme becomes more visible through the story development. What’s more a good and experienced writer wouldn’t scream about the theme of his story, he/she wouldn’t reveal it or make it too obvious. It’s really important for author to keep it invisible but hinted at using various means of fiction.

All in all, I want to admit that theme is one of the main things that has a great influence on a success of this or that book. It’s true to say that some books become bestsellers and some are forgotten on the shelves of book stores. Everything’s about the theme hidden in this or that story. When it is up-to-date and touching, people would read the book. Still if the theme doesn’t touch our emotions or appeal to our minds the book is doomed.

Pieces Of Advise That May Help You To Better Comprehend Fiction And Non-fiction Stories

Nowadays lot’s of people need to read lots of non-fiction books and educational literature and we also read some fiction in our free time. I, personally, am reading two books George Bush’s Decision Points, Jon Stewart presents Earth now. Indeed some of us need to read a lot when studying or working. And it often happens that we are reading books without even understanding what they are about. That is the reason why some of us are looking for the more effective ways of reading.

When you need to read understand and remember some information and you don’t know how to do this, you would perhaps find the answer for this question in this post. So here are several recommendations that can help you to read and understand what you are reading about.

To start with you have to find a reading place. It would be wise to create a place where you would be reading. I advise you not to select a spot too comfortable because this way you may fall asleep. Alternatively you don’t have to choose the place which is too uncomfortable. The cause is that you will only be thinking about your discomfort and not about the reading.

The next advice is to select the time when you are going to read. Selecting the time for reading you need to take your biological rhythms into account. In case you are a morning person, it would be better for you to read early in morning. On contrary, if you are a night person, it would be better for you to read mid-morning to early afternoon. Don’t forget that the best time for reading is when you are more alert. In case you are working during those times, it would be better for you to use your break times or weekends for reading in order to make it more effective.

As you are reading you need to focus on new information. To better remember the new information it is recommended to try connect new information to something you already know. It is a fact that most people are up to highlighting information that they assume to be important. It’s advisable to state some questions that are correlated with a new info in a book and write them down. The thing is that for many people, highlighting sentences is useless. The thing is that they spend more time trying to make sure the lines are straight than they do paying attention to what the text actually says.

And lastly, I advise you to read faster. Lots of people read slowly, still according to the latest research our brains process information much faster than we realize. just try to read faster and you’ll see how much you actually comprehend when you speed up your reading.

Five Outlets To Locate Used Children’s Books

Books can illuminate a child’s imagination and allow their minds to expand with every word. As a parent, I recommend reading to my children by buying them books to read. However, I have found that purchasing brand spankin’ new books can get a bit expensive. So it is a good idea to look into buying previously owned books instead. With a pre-owned book you can still get the quality of a brand new book for far less cash. Where do you look for quality used books? Well, here are five areas you can look into.

Half
Half.com is notorious for low cost movies, music and books. As an eBay sister company, you can be confident that it is a company you can trust. Unlike eBay, Half is not an auction, but an e-commerces store which makes things a whole lot simpler. Payments go through Half and not through a seller– like online auctions. The quality is arranged in topics like Brand New, Like New and Good. One tip to consider for Half.com is that some sellers may place higher quality items in the Good category. It is a good idea to look for sellers with solid positive feedback.

Library Sales
Library sales are great places to find kid’s books for low prices. During these events, library’s are looking to get rid of them and are willing to part for a very low price. Be sure to check out your local newspaper or call your local library to find out when their next book sale is occurring.

Yard Sales
During spring cleaning, many people will start to clear out items in the basement, garage or attic. Among these items may be some children’s books. You could stock up on your Dr. Seuss collection for 20 cents a book. In the spring and summer months, check out your local newspaper classifieds for sale locations.

Secondhand Stores
Some people, instead of having yard sales, donate their items to secondhand stores. You might want to check around your local thrift stores for books at great prices. As the saying goes “one person’s junk is another person’s treasure”.

Amazon
Consider checking out Amazon.com for used children’s books for sale. Do a quick search for a author and you will find that there are used copies up for sale. This process is similar to Half.com except you get the option to purchase either new or used. Again, like Half, be sure to check the seller’s feedback and make sure that it is positive before making a purchasing decision.

In conclusion, purchasing quality books doesn’t have to cost you a lot of money. There are many places for you to find the perfect book at the right price. You just never know where the best deal is on books until you do your homework.

Stephenie Meyer Books You Never Read

Twilight was Stephenie Meyer’s first published book. Since the Twilight series is so popular, many have followed it exclusively, leaving aside The Host, and perhaps remaining completely unaware about another one of Stephenie’s works.

After Twilight and New Moon, but before Eclipse, Stephenie was a contributing writer to Prom Nights from Hell. This was not entirely her book, but she did contribute a short-story to it, along with 4 other authors.

Like the other Stephenie Meyer Books, this short-story, called Hell on Earth, deals with Stephenie’s usual topics, bringing together high school life and the forces of darkness.

It is the story of Sheba, one of the many Demons living on earth, who has to bring misery and destruction to others. However she cannot do it directly, she can only tempt, or suggest evil deeds in the minds of humans, and has to find ways of controlling their free will. This goes very well with some, and not so well with others. Especially when there are other forces involved…

The other short stories deal with similar situations, all centered around dark and supernatural events on the night of the prom.

Meg Cabot brings THE EXTERMINATOR’S DAUGHTER into the mix. When Mary shows up at Club Swig, with a Vamplire-slaying crossbow, it’s not to dance and make new friends. No, she’s on a mission to take out Sebastian Drake, and avenge his father — But when Adam, a fellow student at Saint Eligius, takes his own potshots at the dreaded Sebastian, things get a lot more complicated.

Lauren Myracle, the author of THE CORSAGE, has written what is probably the saddest and creepiest story in th book. All Frankie wants is for her best guy friend, Will, to realize that it’s his destiny to ask her to the prom. To accomplish that goal, she drags Will and her other best friend, Yun Sun, to visit Madame Zanzibar, a fortune-teller. She’s sure that Madame Z will proclaim that Will is her one true love, and that will be that. But the psychic is short on information, but does end up grudgingly handing over to Frankie a dried up old corsage, which she says will grant her three wishes. Over the next couple of days, however, Frankie will come to realize that she’ll have to make some requests that she never in her wildest dreams would have thought of making.

MADISON AVERY AND THE DIM REAPER by Kim Harrison is the longest story in the group, and the most involved. When Madison ends up at the costume prom with a dud date, she’s surprised to find one guy who can pick up the slack. Seth isn’t like anyone she’s ever met before. Unfortunately, before too long she’ll find out why that is, and the picture it paints isn’t pretty. There are deaths, white reapers, black reapers, grim reapers, and odd amulets.

Michele Jaffe’s story, KISS AND TELL, has quite a few twists. Miranda has a secret. Not only is she a student and a part-time driver, but she also fights crime in her spare time. It turns out Miranda has special abilities that allow her to do things most regular teens can’t do — like, say, knock over a lamppost just by leaning on it. This particular day turns out to be stranger than the norm, though, when she picks up young Sibby Cumean, a strange girl who has an even stranger habit of kissing every boy she can find. When weird things start happening, Miranda’s day turns into an action-adventure movie beyond anything she could have expected.

Prom Nights from Hell makes a great read, and a great present, especially for teenagers that have a prom coming.

To get the book or see more like it, go to Prom Nights from Hell.
